Dispel Your Fears With Knowledge

By Priyanshi Sharma in Happenings 24/12/2019

The world is in a constant gyre of evolution. We learn, grow, unlearn and evolve each day. The peace and enlightenment we seek from the cosmos should stem from within. But how do you stay in control and not give into chaos when things fall apart and the centre cannot hold?

The resounding solution is to educate yourself. You don’t need a university degree or diploma to be aware. All you need is a sound, stable head and unbiased sources of information.

Educate Yourself

The fear of the unknown and undiscovered grips our being, subconsciously. A person who is aware and updated with the world around cannot be swayed by the terrors of fake news and WhatsApp University. Disassociate yourself from social media and stop accepting everything you read online as the gospel of absolute truth. Verify the sources of your information and then pan your informed opinion. In the wake of national unrest regarding CAA and NRC, be aware of the media you consume and know your facts before schooling others.

Education transform lives

The right education can give you wings to fly and paint your quarter of the sky with colours your heart desires. You can elevate yourself and others around you with the skills and confidence knowledge instils. It is said that if you teach a man, he can provide for his family but when you teach a woman she can provide and extend the knowledge for generations to come.

Self-awareness

You can win over the world if you know yourself. Life is paved with situations and people who might evoke doubt. A self-aware person does not seek validation from the world around. They are self-sustained people who can lead others. However, the road to self-awareness is paved with learning curves and doubt. It is rough and you might feel like giving up is the easy way out, but hold on tight, little soldier, the light of enlightenment at the end of the dark tunnel awaits you. Know yourself, understand your worth and then face everything that comes your way, head-on.

You can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what your rights are

We are the citizens of the world. Don’t constrict yourself in a little bubble of demarcated boundaries. You’ll never know what you can get until you ask for it. An aware individual can never be wronged by the world. It is your responsibility to know what you can and cannot do as a citizen. The time to be blissfully ignorant is long gone. You can’t sit comfortably in silence and plead the fifth anymore just to disassociate from the debate. If you don’t know what’s happening, then use the prowess of digital media and the news to make yourself aware. Stop making excuses and relishing in the pity of being the victim. Empower yourself with knowledge to be the flag-bearer of change.

“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” ― Daniel J. Boorstin

Educate yourself and enrich your mind with knowledge. Be aware of the world around for ignorance is not blissful anymore, and you know what they say: knowledge is the new black.
