Being the 21st Century Modern Day Woman !!

She is the woman who herself can afford a luxury car, diamond jewelry, Rolex watches, Armani suits, Prada’s purse, Gucci’s heels. But who is she? SHE is the 21^st century woman, who is strong, independent and carefree. Gender , caste, culture, religion is of no significance to her because that’s how she has been raised.

Its easy to give in to feelings of self-doubt and back down from challenges. But, that’s certainly not what being a strong woman all is about.

She has her hands in every pie, from handling a nation till asserting the largest corporative companies, from her remarkable presence in field of sports till her indispensable need at the kitchen; She has excelled in every sphere. She can make her own decisions, set a legacy for her successors,  and stand for her rights, because she’s fearless and dynamic.

The question that often arises is, has the 21^st century woman consigned traditions, cultures, emotions to oblivion? Has she overlooked her ‘duties’ in making a name for herself? Is modernization taking a toll on her behavior?

NO! She is still the one who would keep karva chauths for her soulmate in desire of his long life, she is still the one who’ll bear her child for nine months without any complain , she’s the one who’ll light up the first ‘diya’ at your place. YES! She is the 21^st century woman who can still drape a saree beautifully around her and rock an alluring dress at the same time.

Ironically, she is the one who is brutally raped, assaulted, victimized and has been termed as a culprit in every situation.

Have you seen a grown up elephant tied to a tiny stake with an ordinary rope? Have you ever wondered why doesn’t the mighty beast just give a powerful tug and break free? The problem is that since childhood, the elephant has been conditioned to believe that he is not capable of breaking free. As a baby, when he was tied to the stake for the first time, he did try to break free but could not succeed. Eventually, he has given up trying, thinking that he can’t; and now when he has grown up to be the most powerful of all animals on this Planet. He ‘believes’ that he can’t do it. Women have now break free from  limiting their beliefs.

Women are becomig more and more self dependent by having access to all opportunities they were earlier deprived of. A woman goes through many transitions.  Indian women have undergone some drastic changes. These changes are due to  globalisation, technology and the impact of social, economic and political cross currents across the world. A woman has to play multiple roles, of  a wife,  a mother,  a daughter and simultaneously play different roles in the community . This is the century of telecom, IT and financial institutions. Women excel in all industries today and they are emerging as a force to reckon it. Women have shifted from traditional assumptions about their roles and capabilities. There has been a marked change and it’s for the better.

In the next millennium, Indian women would have to cross a major threshold and enter an unknown land. They will have to walk a path with a sense to discover. They will have to encounter and live with excitement and enthusiasm as well as threat, fears, anxieties and terror. They will discover the voice which has been silenced for centuries to sing the songs of life and discover the joys of experiencing the beauty around. However, the woman of today will touch the magic of enlivening herself .
