Be bedazzled by the celebrity showstoppers and top notch Indian and International designers as LFW’ summer/resort’16 was one heck of a five day glamour studded week and will leave you enchanted with rapture.
Manish Malhotra raised the curtains of the most awaited fashion week on 29th march. The half a century old designers who fabricates dreams showcased his collection “ELEMENTS” earth, water, fire and the silhouettes including long skirts, off shoulder tops, harem pants, usual gowns for women and sherwanis and suits for men were showcased by the models. The cheery on the top was the ramp walked by ARJUN KAPOOR in a deep blue kurta , dupatta and plain silver jacket. JACQLINE FERNANDEZ looked ethereal in a shimmery evening cape gown. Manish Malhotra’s collection was a mix hues of blues and whites !
Models strutted the ramp showcasing the collection of QUIRKBOX. One can travel in the embroidered French braided quirky patterns all summer humming the francais vibe. QUIRKBOX up their style bar by emphasizing” art is the new black” through frenched kissed floral motifs suits, tops, shorts, layered and short dresses, and structured yet feminine jackets in shades of pastels and barely there nudes.
An all rounder in the design field, PINAKIN PATEL constructed visionary collection. With models walking like divine in the utopic ensemble, ingenious headgears in silhouettes of sere oyster, tangerine with pale pink and grass green left the spectators swaying in the dream.
The familiar pastel shades made rounds of appearances by ARCHANA RAO’S label FROU FROU! Asymmetrical hemlines, sheers, clean cut, delicate frills, satins; ruffles staged the “A PETTICOAT’ collection. Pernia Qureshi looked beauteous in the beautiful pink saree with delicate petals detailing.
HUEMN introduced a new dimension through the seductively arresting yet blunt articles of wearable clothing. Groovy coordinates and Tees, velvet suits, bedazzled satin shirts, biker jackets, fur details, fringed sleeves caressing the floor, and zippered blousons were part of the comfortably edgy collection. Radiance of the collection was enriched with the shades of oxblood, deep rust, glowing emerald, sparkling silver grey married with noir.
KRITI TULA scribbled her label DOODLAGE to life by employing recycled cloth for the revelation of exclusive ‘one of a kind’ pieces. The resorts wear fashions patchwork in hooded capes, pants, dresses and shirts. Indeed it’s an intriguing fun collection by the creator that wears the carpe diem cap.
The headline makers were the electronic wearable fashion from Berlin. Elektro Couture by LISA LANG outshined the contemporary designer’s collections. The international designer has created the world’s first unconventional prêt-a-porter line of laser cut necklaces, knitted garments that glowed wireless charging smart jewelry from interactive wearable sensor technology. The futuristic fashion line is to watch out for!!
SAHIL KOCHHAR’S “Sangamar-mar” collection epitomizes the serenity and purity through the white hues. The art of “Prachin Kari” was animated via beautiful natural prints. Fabrics were printed using textures of printed stones, cut into various shapes and then put together to create abstract floral motifs. The ancient artfulness of the designs has brought back the glance of intricate marble carving elegantly. Mr. KOCHHAR displayed sheer respect for quaint perspective.
KANIKA GOYAL got us excited to make space in our wardrobes for the ready to wear Athleisure inspired collection. The embellished jackets, sloganed t-shirts, patterned summer jacket over suit, all are easy breezy and stylish that’ll revive our daily wear and bring the much needed grunge quotient to burn the oh! So boring outfits!!
Bringing a twist to the formal western wear RAJESH PRATAP SINGH collaborated with the master weaver Haseem Mohammad. The comforting yet classy culottes, biased cut jackets, capris, dhoti pants, court dress, trouser suit, midi/maxi skirts, a-line midi’s , bellbottoms, jacket combo and double breast coat , all were stitched to perfection in golden brocades threaded with florals.
Maestro ANEETH ARORAS and Jakhir Hussain Mandol swished the wand and enraptured everyone’s gazes on their beautiful summer dresses, cool blouses, layered minis, softly embroidered long-sleeved covers, delicately embellished midis, skirts and gowns in shades of white and pale blue/grey.
PELLA exhibited the tranquil collection in beige hues of ahimsa silks, pashima threads, cashmere, eri, tassar silk. It was the right blend of weightless silhouettes.
WENDEL RODRICKS known for his intuitive designs showcased’INDICA EMPORIA’ Ghagras, sari with innovative floor length cape blouses, bolero choga, classic khadi kurta, pleated skirts, churidars, tunics in kaleidoscopic color palette. Amalgamation of dhoti jumpsuit sari and Farsi pajamas was pretty tantalizing. The Goan designer created a fusion of twenty Indian icons.

GUARANG self-aggrandizing lehenga and sarees designs have been much appreciated but this year saw him challenging his boundaries and experimenting with 11th century colors, weaves and motifs in evening gowns and evening wears. The history of crafts and expertise were revisited through the make of the designer. Carol Gracious showed off her baby bump on the ramp.
AIMAN Show kept intact the meaningful motifs through the presentation of the luxuriate collection.
SVA gave the refreshing royal treatment to our eyes. Traditional Indian wear is always a hit. BHUMI PADNEKAR personalized the royal look with her glamorous walk.
JAYANTI REDDY’s ensemble left us wanting for more. The swirl of the ivory silver toned ADITI RAO HYDARI’s lehenga enveloped all the viewers. The miniature detailing of the royal collection was just breathtaking.
VERANDAH BY ANJALI captured the crème de la crème elite and fabulous style effortlessly. Models jazz walked their way through the ramp in their plush white block platforms.
MONISHA JAI SINGH patronized the spectators with her sexy frilled separates, embroidered denims , embellished gowns, metallic overalls in golden, browns and ivory. LIZA HAYDON charmed everyone with her heavy duty glittering rock star shine.
The ever so creative and quirky MASABA showed the fashionistas to flaunt any look into separates .The rush of kaleidoscopic colors was witnessed in her show. The Voluminous garbage-bag pants, pencil-shaved frill pre-stitched saris and deconstructed blazer outlined the collection. SHRADDHA KAPOOR closed the show.
SHIVAN AND NARRESH fashion motivation artist Fernand Leger’s inspired their collection. And an inspired designer can go wild with the imagination and that’s what the duo did. Their designs varied from trikinis to bikini saris, needled fringed kaftans to body suit. They designed it all!
Sophisticated, plush, high –toned, elegant…endless synonyms won’t be able to describe and appreciate PAYAL KHANDWALA’S quixotic summer resort collection. The structured palazzo pants, tan bags and belts, geometrical jewelry…all was on fleek by this extraordinary designer.
