Read More →Bollywood’s Fashionista tied the knot yesterday in a big fat Punjabi wedding. Though, your Insta and Facebook feeds are full of the posts from “The Wedding”, we decided to fill up your fashion diaries with lessons from the diva’s wedding.
The speculations about Sonam’s wedding outfits were there right from the announcement of the wedding. Everybody wanted to know whether she was wearing an Anamika Khanna or an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla outfit. After all, the fashion diva was getting married and all eyes were set on the outfits she would choose.
Sonam has always been the experimental fashionista; she has been bold about her fashion choices and thus, the massive following. It was this reason, that when we go to know about the dress theme for her Mehendi, we were not much surprised. Sonam chose the unconventional white for her mehendi, isn’t that a too hat ke? We have always seen shades of green at almost all mehendi function, so when white was announced, we were a little thrilled about what we were going to witness. And, Sonam made us fall in love with the white for weddings. The celebrities turned up in varied shades of festive white to make the occasion perfect.
Jacqueline wore an ivory lehenga by Anamika Khanna. She looked drop dead gorgeous in a white and grey printed lehenga set with a matching dupatta. Her hair was tied in a low bun and decorated with a gajra, fresh face of makeup and a small bindi finished off her look.
Jahnvi Kapoor, sonam’s cousin, was dressed by ace designer Manish Malhotra. Her delicate design was a lesson in subdued glamour with its demure, long-sleeved silhouette, subtle chikankari embroidery and all-over clusters of gold sequin.
Swara donned a surreal white lehenga with intricate work and beautiful jewellery by Manish Malhotra.
While everybody was wearing white, Sonam kept the spotlight on her by opting for a lavender and peach traditional lehenga. She opted for minimal makeup with her hair done in a messy ponytail and minimal jewellery look to let the focus be on her mehendi. Sonam’s pastel outfit for her Mehendi reminds us of Anushka’s ethereal wedding look. We guess its time to dye in pastels.
Alia Bhatt came in to congratulate the newlywed couple Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja at their wedding reception.
She looked pretty in a chartreuse lehenga by Sabyasachi that she paired with a choker necklace and a mang tika.
With a dipping V-cut choli and sparklier-than-ever gold saree, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan wowed everyone with a dramatic Manish Malhotra look that was a turn from her usual style. Her look was flirty, fresh, and fierce.
Pulling off an all-over shimmery anarkali isn’t for the fashion rookie. Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did it perfectly in an ethereal Manish Malhotra design that made her look incredibly sexy and romantic at the same time. And we love the pairing with those delicious chandbali earrings from Anmol Jewellers.
As the bride looked pretty in her mehendi outfit, she looked glamorous and spectacular in her sangeet outfit. Sonam wore a chikankari lehenga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Couture. The lehenga set consisted of a heavily embroidered blouse and a matching skirt. She teamed it with a gorgeous dupatta.
Sonam completed her look with traditional Kundan jewellery set that consisted of a statement neckpiece, a mang tikka, handcuff, and jhumkas. She tied her hair neatly in a loose bun to complete her royal look.
Yes, she looked spectacular in that red lehenga! Even with her bridal look, Sonam proved why she is Bollywood’s favorite fashion muse. The true-blue Punjabi bride chose a traditional red Anuradha Vakil lehenga for her wedding day, she paired it with antique-looking royal jewellery comprising of a choker, a long necklace, layered mathapatti, kangan and jhumkas. Her beautiful red chooda and golden kaliras are just the perfect finishing touch to her bridal look.
The newlywed opted for an unconventional grey and white lehenga by Anamika Khanna again. Being the experimental fashionista, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja ditched sequins, beadwork, and pastels and in turn favored a paired-down graphic lehenga. In place of a dupatta was a cape jacket. The lehenga bottom was in fact embroidered with metallic threadwork. She wore layers of polki necklaces that stood out against the minimal aesthetic of the lehenga.
That’s what we call style statement.
Sonam’s wedding had upgraded our fashion diary for the upcoming weddings. We are sure to take some inspiration from the gorgeous outfits worn by the pretty bride. Sonam’s fashion sense has always fed us with the right nutrition to up our style game and now our eyes are all set for her Cannes outfits on May 14th and 15th.
