How much can we control our subconscious mind? Are we aware of the way it works? Although there is millions of research work on this subject available, it is still a wonder how the subconscious mind is controlling almost every emotion and action without realising it.
Whether we realize it or not, our subconscious mind picks up on all of our positive or negative statements that we say or think about ourselves.
It can soak up endless information, some of which we are not even aware of. Everything that we come across in daily lives, gets absorbed into our subconscious mind and will stay there FOREVER. We can never really filter the emotions based on our own choices.
In most of the cases, it makes us do things that can act as a comfort against those powerful emotions. The most popular activity that we do when the subconscious mind is emotionally weak, is overeating, also known as emotional eating. To get rid of it, we need to learn to control the receiving process of our subconscious mind, and that is not easy!
Before trying to control it, we need to know how our subconscious mind works. We often ask ourselves, “Why am I so fat?” Interestingly, the tendency of our subconscious mind is to focus on the problem and not the part which can lead us to the solution.
So, when we ask ourselves this question, the subconscious focuses only on the ‘fat’ part and not on the rest of the words, especially, ‘why’. Subconsciously, we keep feeding that part of our mind with the word ‘fat’ being the focus. That’s how we become more depressed and again overeat to find comfort against it.
In a way, we put all the negative statements about ourselves into the subconscious mind and as a result, we get what we don’t want, even though that is completely opposite to our intention.
The subconscious mind accepts ALL and ANY information because it does not know any better. So, the only treatment that works the best is, being very conscious about what are we saying to our brain and being as AFFIRMATIVE as possible.
To win the battle with overeating, AFFIRMATION is known as the most effective therapy. But, we need to be very careful about what we say and think. The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what is not, and that’s the only advantage we get to use. So, even when we are thinking something negative, we need to replace that with a positive statement immediately.
For example, if we say, “I need this food right now as it can make my mood better”, we tell our mind right after, “I can do better than this. I don’t need to have this food, I have other ways to deal with my emotion”.
Our aim should always be, changing our current reality, and affirmation helps us with that. If we can control the subconscious mind by using affirmation successfully, then we will be able to create a totally different and better lifestyle for us. We will be free from fear, anxiety, depression, and of course, emotional eating.
Since our subconscious mind makes up about 90% of our whole mind, it is like a huge memory bank, with unlimited capacity.
So, it is almost impossible to count the memories or emotions that create a particular feeling in us. Emotional eating or activities like that can be the result of any one of those memories, and it is a plus point if we can figure that out in the first stage of the affirmation therapy.
As we find comfort while overeating, it becomes more difficult for us to convince ourselves for the therapy. Food is an emotional aspect of our lives and we cannot really eat without emotions. But, eating endlessly without being hungry is what our subconscious mind does to us, and when that happens, we need to make sure it obeys what our conscious mind commands.
